WILTON, Iowa — Chris E. Jasperson, 74, of Wilton, died on Wednesday, October 4, 2017, at his home.
Per his wishes there will be no visitation or funeral services.
Memorial contributions may be made to Iowa City Hospice, 1025 Wade Street, Iowa City, Iowa, in his memory.
Chris was born in Muscatine, Iowa, on July 7, 1943, to Kenneth and Rosa Marie (Walther) Jasperson. He lived on a farm most of his younger years and attended Wilton Community Schools.
He joined the Navy in 1961. He was united in marriage to Lorna Holst on September 14, 1963.
Chris worked with his dad at J&M Home Mix, Grain Processing, Caterpillar Tractor and later for several trucking companies and also owned his own rig.
When time allowed, he loved to take the family on camping trips, going fishing, driving his boat, while the boys and friends skiied behind. Tinkering in his garage and working on his three John Deere lawn tractors brought him joy.
Always a country music fan (at least after he met Lorna), on any given day one could hear Willie, Waylon, Johnny or some other country boy or girl blasting from the stereo in his garage.
Those left to remember him are his wife of 54 years, Lorna; his children, Keith (Jackie) of Andover, Minnesota, Kelly of Muscatine and Gary of Wilton; his grandchildren, Brent, Brandon (Lauren), Ryan, Kayla and Dominik; his sister Louise (Steve) Oepping; his brothers-in-law, Curt Holst and Duane Holst; his sisters-in-law, Marilyn (Steve) Ralfs and Carol Jasperson; and his father-in-law, Ed Holst.
He was preceded in death by his sister, Barbara Jo Ann Jasperson; his brother, Chuck; and his parents.
