DAVENPORT – Curtis L. Doak, 84, of Davenport, passed away on Friday, December 1, 2017, at St. Mary Health Care and Rehabilitation Center.

Graveside services will be 2 p.m. on Wednesday, December 6, 2017, at the New Boston Cemetery, New Boston, Illinois. Reverend Beth Nelson will officiate. There will be no visitation. Memorials may be made to the family in care of Darla Mills.The Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.

Curtis was born on April 5, 1933, in New Boston, Illinois, the son of Wilbur and Mary Glidden Doak. He married Darlene Lee on November 21, 1959, in Muscatine. She preceded him in death.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War, in the 2nd Armored Division - Hell On Wheels. He was a retired sheet metal worker from Schebler Sheet Metal. He also was a farm hand on his brother-in-law’s farm. Curtis was a wonderful and devoted husband and father. He enjoyed watching sports, working crossword and Sudoku puzzles, fishing, hunting, and spending time with family and friends. He was a member of an archery club, where he had won several trophies.

Those left to honor his memory include his children, Diana Doak of Davenport, Darla Mills of Muscatine, and Debbie Johnson and Darren Doak, both of Springdale, Arkansas; eight grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; one brother-in-law, Keith Irwin of Illinois City, Illinois; and several cousins, nieces and nephews who will deeply miss him.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; two sisters; and one brother.
