On behalf of Jefferson Elementary and the Muscatine Community School District, I would like to thank the individuals and businesses (Lifetime Dentistry, Van Meter, Bug Soother, Kent Nutrition Group, Youth Sports Foundation and Muscatine Community School District) who donated supplies and volunteered their time in our district-wide Hurricane Harvey Relief Effort. The event was a huge success as we were able to completely fill a semi trailer. The outstanding support confirms that the people of Muscatine are very giving and supportive people who are willing to help those in need.
I want to thank Dave Riggan from TanTara Transportation for his assistance in coordinating this effort, as well as Greg Jenkins from the Muscatine Chamber of Commerce for his support and guidance. I also want to thank United Rentals, HNI, City Carton, Pack and Ship, Mailboxes and Parcel Depot, Midtown Towing, Joe Ramer from Cam II, Sign Pro, Muscatine Journal, Voice of Muscatine, Holly Thomas-Koehler from Unity Point Health, West Middle School, Central Middle School, Muscatine High School and the Muscatine Community School District maintenance department for the resources they provided. I also want to thank Hy-Vee for their support and commitment to our community.
Their generous giving is a testament to the type of community we live in. The community of Muscatine has touched many individuals and families living in the Houston area that have been impacted by Hurricane Harvey.
Lastly, I’d like to give a special thanks Brenda Todd, Shelly Noel, Trisha Klein who run the Student Council at Jefferson Elementary as they contributed to the event’s success. The Jefferson Student Council did an outstanding job of organizing the event.
I live in the best community in Iowa.
