MUSCATINE — Iowa State Patrol have released the names of a Muscatine man killed, and another injured, in a Sept. 6 crash on Highway 22.
Robert Lyle Kemper, 79, of Muscatine, was pronounced dead after two vehicles collided on Highway 22 near mile marker 75, according to the crash report.
Erik Ellis Newberry, 37, of Muscatine, was injured in the crash and transported to University Hospitals, Iowa City. There is no word on his condition.
According to a crash report from the Iowa State Patrol, around 8:30 p.m., a vehicle was traveling westbound on the highway when it crossed the center line. The vehicle crashed into a second vehicle, which was heading eastbound.
Both were wearing seat belts, police said. Police did not indicate which vehicles they were in.
Iowa State Patrol is investigating. They were assisted at the scene by Muscatine Police Department, Muscatine County Sheriff's Office, Wilton Fire Department and Muscatine Fire Department.
