WAPELLO, Iowa — The Iowa State Patrol has identified a man who died after his vehicle slid into a semitrailer near Wapello on Wednesday.

Steven R. Hahn, 60, of Burlington, died as a result of injuries sustained in the crash on U.S. Highway 61, about one mile north of Iowa Highway 78.

Hahn lost control of his Chevrolet Trailblazer at about 2:30 p.m. due to road and weather conditions, according to the State Patrol. The Trailblazer slid sideways and collided with a semitrailer driven by Robert W. Metzger, 58, of Yarmouth. Metzger was not injured.

An investigation of the accident is ongoing.

The Louisa County Sheriff’s Office, Wapello Fire and Rescue, Wapello Ambulance and Burlington Police Department also responded to the scene.
