MUSCATINE, Iowa — Two Janesville, Wis. men pleaded guilty April 1 to robbery in the second degree, a class C felony, and theft in the second degree, a class D felony.
An investigation by the Muscatine Police Department showed that Ashton Dix, 21, and Scott Fry, 23, entered the GM Food Mart at 1127 Ripley Court, Jan. 7, brandishing pellet guns and attempted to rob the clerk.
The two left in a car, which was pursued by a Muscatine County Sheriff's deputy. The pursuit ended when the men crashed their vehicle near the intersection of U.S. Highway 61 and 110th Street in Scott County. The vehicle they were driving had been reported stolen from Moline, Ill.
According to the Muscatine County Attorney's Office, the two men each face a mandatory minimum of seven years in prison before they would be eligible for parole. Bond was revoked and sentencing is scheduled for Friday, May 9.
