No one was injured Monday after a fork truck explosion preceded a fire in a building at 815 E. 4th St., Muscatine.

Here's what happened, according to a news release from the Muscatine Fire Department: 

About 12:52 a.m., the Muscatine Joint Communications Center received 911 call about a fork truck that had blown up and was ablaze inside a building. Upon arrival crews found smoke coming from the building.

Firefighters knocked down the fire within nine minutes of their arrival. All occupants safely left the building. 

Crews, who remained on scene to ensure the fire was fully extinguished, checked for hidden fires. The fire, which officially was under control at 1:05 p.m., remains under investigation.

No one was injured.

The Muscatine Police Department and the Fruitland Fire Department assisted Muscatine firefighters.
