President Dan Clark called a meeting of Muscatine Toastmasters Club #685 to order in the Musser Public Library on Sept. 16, 2013.
The meeting opened with table topic master Lea Wagner leading the group in a moment of silence followed by the Pledge of Allegiance.
Toastmaster Dan Clark introduced Albert Lin as general evaluator, Liz Shurson as timer, Jamie Brecht as ah counter and himself as grammarian, giving as the word of the day: Callow — meaning inexperienced.
Shurson received recognition as best table topics speaker.
During the business meeting, the following was discussed:
The Division Speech Contest is Oct. 19. The area contest is scheduled for Oct. 5 at the Muscatine Hy-Vee.
The next meeting will be at 5:35 p.m., Monday, Sept. 23 in the Musser Public Library second-floor meeting room.
The meeting adjourned at 6:30 p.m.
