MUSCATINE, Iowa — Just in time for the holidays, the new Kum & Go at 1429 Park Ave. opened last week.
According to a news release, the new store, which contains almost 5,000 square feet, replaces an older store that had been located down the street, at 1010 Park Ave.
“We decided to build a new store in close proximity to the original Kum & Go store, which was razed,” said Kum & Go President and CEO Kyle J. Krause. “The store layout has been designed with our customers in mind.”
Inside, customers will find an expanded Go Fresh Market with fresh, made-to-order pizzas, breakfast and deli sandwiches and baked goods, all made daily at the store’s on-site kitchen.
The new store also offers a larger number of fueling positions.
Kum & Go designs and constructs its stores with LEED certification in mind. (LEED stands for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design.)
Sustainable features of the new store include skylights, LED (light-emitting diode) lighting both inside and outside the store, low-flow water efficient features and high energy-efficient equipment.
Each store is constructed using recyclable materials and locally sourced materials.
“We’re passionate about the communities we serve. We demonstrate that passion first by bringing an eco-friendly store,” Krause said, “and second by giving back,” noting the company donates 10 percent of its profits each year to educational and charitable causes.
