ELY, Iowa — Russell “Trash” Ralls, 64, of Ely, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2014 at the Veterans Hospital in Iowa City. Per Russell’s wishes his body has been cremated. No services are planned at this time. Iowa Cremation is assisting the family.

Trash is survived by his loving wife Christine of Ely; son Joey Ralls of Cedar Rapids; step children Michael McDaniel and Holly (Juan) Cuellar and three step grandchildren all of Muscatine; his sister Lola Ralls Voles of Indiana and sister Catherin of Cedar Rapids. He was preceded in death by his parents Joe and Gwendolyn Ralls.

Trash was born on September 17, 1949 in Paris, IA. Trash married Christine McDaniel on June 30, 2007 in Mt. Pleasant. He worked for the city of Cedar Rapids’ Sanitation Department for 17 years prior to his retirement.

Trash enlisted in the Marine Corps and served in the Vietnam War. He was awarded many medals including the Purple Heart, Combat Action Ribbon and the Navy Achievement Medal with Combat “V”. Trash was a proud member of the Vietnam Vets Motorcycle Club for over 20 years. He enjoyed reading westerns and science fiction, riding motorcycles and the camaraderie of his Motorcycle Club.

He will be dearly missed by his wife Christine, his family and his Club Brothers.
