BOYS BASKETBALL

Wapello 67, Columbus 32: Trenton Massner scored 21 points, Belzer 12 and Mitchell 11 as the Indians (8-1, 7-1) bounced back from their first loss of the season. 

Tommy Pretz led Columbus offensively with 10 points while Chepo Cardena and Abel Mena each chipped in nine. 

Up next: Wapello hosts Wilton today at 4:30 p.m. ... Columbus will play at Highland on Tuesday. 

Monticello 61, Wilton 31: Monticello jumped ahead early, leading Wilton 31-12 at halftime, and never looked back. 

Jared Townsend and Cole Rabedeaux scored eight points apiece to lead the Beavers (1-10, 0-9).

Up next: Wilton plays at Wapello today at 4:30 p.m. 

Camanche 72, Durant 55: The Wildcats dropped to 0-2 to start the new year after losing a pair of conference games to West Branch and Camanche. 

Durant led 15-14 after the first quarter, but fell behind 33-26 by halftime. 

Up next: The Wildcats will play again today at 4:45 p.m. at Midland. 

Pekin 64, Louisa-Muscatine 62: The Falcons (4-6, 3-6) fell for the second straight time to start the new year after ending 2017 with two consecutive wins. 

Up next: Louisa-Muscatine will play at Mediapolis on Tuesday.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Wapello 46, Columbus Community 22: Eryka Dickey scored 15 points and Sadie Burke poured in eight to lead the Arrows (7-3, 6-3) to their fifth straight win. 

Anna Hamilton led Columbus (2-9, 2-7) with six points, while Angie Byas and Maki Mendenhall each added four.

Up next: Wapello will host Wilton today at 3 p.m. ... Columbus will play at Highland on Tuesday.

Camanche 77, Durant 34: Four different Camanche players scored in double figures to down the Wildcats (0-13, 0-11). 

Kamryn Meyer scored 13 points, and Emily Seligman added nine to lead the Wildcats, who are still searching for their first win.

Up next: Durant will play again today at Midland at 3:30 p.m. 

Pekin 41, Louisa-Muscatine 25: The Falcons' four-game win streak ended Friday night at the hands of a one-loss Pekin squad. 

Mariah Pugh paced Louisa-Muscatine (5-6, 4-5) with 17 points, and Cat Osborn added six, but no other Falcon scored more than two. 

Up next: Louisa-Muscatine will take on Keota today at 3 p.m.
