Five area athletes were named to the SEISC Volleyball All Conference teams and six more made the honorable mentions list. The list was headlined by four Wapello seniors – Mariah Mitchell, Tiffany Parsons, Addisyn Lolling, and Kirstyn Hank – who were all named First-Team all SEISC in the North Division.
In addition to first-team honors, Mitchell was crowned SEISC Player of the Year on Wednesday. The Western Illinois commit ranks fourth in Class 2A with 466 kills and is one of three players ranked in the top 10 with less than 100 sets played at 84, and her 5.55 kills per set rank second among players with more than three sets played.
Mitchell's 38 kills against Winfield-Mount Union earlier this season were the most by a player in a match this season in the state, regardless of classification.
Parsons, the Arrows other hitter, finished the season with 231 kills. Lolling, a setter, had 709 assists while Hank, the libero, led Wapello with 268 digs. The seniors were the driving force in Wapello's 20-12 record.
Columbus Junction hitter Maki Mendenhall was the lone area athlete named to the SEISC second-team. The senior's 128 kills led the Wildcats, and she ranked second in service aces (34), assists (28), digs (162) and blocks (12).
In addition, Louisa-Muscatine, Columbus Junction and Wapello each landed two players on the honorable mentions list. Senior Catrina Osborn and junior Mallory Hohenadel represented Louisa-Muscatine, sophomore Holly Massner and junior Denalyn Lanz represented Wapello, and junior Anna Hamilton and senior Courtney Zaehringer represented Columbus Junction.
