Durant 67, Louisa-Muscatine 57: Durant used a 21-point fourth quarter to get past Louisa-Muscatine in the first round of the Class 2A, district 9 bracket Monday at Tipton High School.
Easton Botkins led the Wildcats (13-10) with 19 points, while Brady Walker led the Falcons, who finished the season with an 11-12 record, with 24 points.
Botkins sparked Durant early, too, as the junior scored the Wildcat's first 10 points. Even so, Louisa-Muscatine weathered the storm and even held a five-point lead midway through the third quarter.
However, keyed by Bryce Lafrenz's ability to pick apart the Falcon's zone, the Wildcats exploded for a 21-point fourth quarter to pull away and win the game. Lafrenz had 16 points, while Mason Compton and Curtis Lilenthal finished with nine points apiece.
Durant will travel to Camanche Thursday at 6:30 p.m. Camanche won the lone matchup between the teams 72-55 earlier this season in Durant.
Central Lee 78, Columbus Junction 52: The Wildcats fell by 26 points in the opening round of the Class 2A, district 10 bracket Monday night to end their season. Columbus Junction finished the season with a 0-22 record, although seven of its games were decided by single digits.
Tipton 77, Wilton 42: The Beavers fell by 25 in the opening round of the Class 2A, district 9 bracket to end their season Monday night. Wilton (1-20) will lose four seniors but returns a plethora of juniors next season, including leading scorer Jared Townsend along with second-leading scorer Chase Miller.
