Muscatine tops North Scott: The Muskies continued their stellar start to the season with a 3,082 to 2,885 win over the Lancers Monday night. Gabi Evans led the Muskies with a two game series of 439, while Jaelynn Klein had a two-game series of 421.Emily Payne had a two-game series of 400, while Muscatine's other three bowlers all topped 339.
Muscatine outscored North Scott 1,102 to 708 in the Baker rotation much to the delight of coach Brian Chapman, who was pleased with the Muskies Baker rotation scores.
Lancers top Muskies: The Muscatine boys bowling team came up short against North Scott on Monday by a score of 3,019 pins to 2,815 pins. Caleb Sterbenz and Tyler Harris led the way for the Muskies, as Sterbenz had a two-game series of 422 pins and Harris had 420.
However, Chapman felt the little things were the difference in what proved to be a close dual.
"We missed a lot of single spares," Chapman said. "A lot of little things just didn't go our way."
Bellevue Marquette Catholic 59, Durant 24: The Wildcats dropped their fifth consecutive game to begin the season on Monday night. Durant actually held a 17-16 lead entering halftime but was outscored 43-7 in the second half.
Durant 48, Bellevue Marquette Catholic 41: The Wildcats improved to 3-0 behind 14 points from Joe Lilenthal on Monday. Four other Durant players scored at least seven points, with both Easton Botkins and Bryce Lafrenz scoring nine. Durant will look to improve to 4-0 on the season and 2-0 in conference play tonight with a game at West Liberty.
