Muskies prominent on MAC all-conference teams: Muscatine's Ragan Carey and Tyler Harris were each named the Mississippi Athletic Conference Bowler of the Year Wednesday.

Carey, a senior, was one of four Muskie girls bowlers to be named first-team all-MAC, as she was joined by Gabi Evans, Emily Payne and Jaelynn Klein.

In addition to having four of the six first team bowlers, Muscatine also had Kayla Maurer on second-team all-MAC and Kaitlyn Bierman was a honorable mention.

On the boys side Harris was the lone Muskie to make the first team, and Marcus Madsen was a honorable mention.

The Muskie girls finished first in the MAC with an 8-0 conference record while the boys tied for third with a 5-3 conference record.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Muskies to host substate semifinal: The Muscatine boys basketball team was given the No. 2 seed and will host a semifinal game in the Class 4A, Substate 4 bracket. Muscatine (13-6) will play host to the winner of Davenport North and Burlington, both teams that it swept this season, Feb. 23 at 7 p.m

Muscatine scored two blowout wins over Burlington and two wins over North, including a one-point overtime win in Muscatine at the end of January.

On the other side of the bracket, Pleasant Valley was given the No. 1 seed and will play host to the winner of Linn-Marr Marion and Cedar Rapids Jefferson. The winners of both semifinal contests will face off at the US Cellular Center Feb. 27 at 6:30 p.m.
