Wilton wrestling earns sweep: The Wilton wrestling team won all three of its duals at the West Branch Quadrangular Thursday. Wilton squeaked by Monticello, 41-40, in the first dual of the night but blew past Iowa City Regina, 66-17, and West Branch, 71-3, to cap off the night. Cory Anderson led the Beavers, as the junior pinned all three of his opponents in the 138-pound weight class and spent less than three minutes on the mat in the three matches.
Seniors Trey Brisker and Eli Faison won all three of their matches. Faison pinned all three of his opponents in the 160-pound weight class while Brisker received two walkovers and won a match by a tech fall in the 152-pound weight class.
Durant swept: The Durant wrestling team was swept at the Bellevue Quadrangular Thursday. The Wildcats only took two wrestlers and forfeited the remainder of their matches in all three duals. Cameron Ragurrio won two of his three matches in the 152-pound weight class, while heavyweight wrestler Mason Bird won just one of his three matches.
Falcons win two duals: The Louisa-Muscatine wrestling team won both of its matches a the Davenport West Triangular Thursday night. Louisa-Muscatine topped Mercer County, 39-32, and Davenport West, 36-18. Hunter Connor pinned both of his opponents in under a minute and Gabe Hayes and Max Mashek also won both of their matches.
West Liberty splits: It was a mixed bag for the Comet wrestling team at their home dual on Thursday. West Liberty won its first dual over North Linn, 69-12 but lost its second dual to Class 1A power Don Bosco, 56-18. Bryce Esmoil, Joe Kelly and Andy Lopez each won both of their matches to lead the way for the Comets.
Notre Dame 71, Louisa-Muscatine 54: The Falcons dropped their second consecutive home game and their first of the new year in a 17-point loss on Thursday. Senior Brady Walker led Louisa-Muscatine (4-5) with 16 points while Zack Bieri added 11. However, it wasn't enough to overcome 21 points from Burlington senior Jett Tjaden.
