MUSCATINE-Dallas L. Mayerhofer, 87, of Muscatine, passed away on Sunday, January 27, 2019, at his home following a 11-year battle with cancer.
Dallas was born in Cedar County on September 13, 1931, the son of Lawrance W. and Pearl V. (Petersen) Mayerhofer.
He graduated from Durant High School in 1949.
Dallas married Darlene D. (Harmon) Price on August 17, 1985, in Muscatine.
He farmed in Muscatine and Cedar counties for most of his life. Dallas was a well-respected horseshoer and horse appraiser.
He was a member of Sweetland United Methodist Church, Iowa Quarter Horse Association and AQHA.
Memorial visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Thursday, January 31, 2019, at Bentley Funeral Home in Durant.
Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, February 1, 2019, at Bentley Funeral Home in Durant.
Inurnment will take place at a later date.
Dallas is survived and lovingly remembered by his wife, Darlene; his daughters, Kathy Ploen of Davenport, Deborah (Kerry) Tate of Weatherford, Texas, and Susan Bizarri of Atkinson, Illinois; his son, Chad (Kelly) Mayerhofer of Milan, Illinois; his other son, Donald (Vivian) Reed of Durant; his step-children, Sherry Miller of Silvis, Illinois, Tracy Price of Punta Gorda, Florida, and Brad Price of Warren, Michigan; nine grandchildren, eight step-grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and 10 step-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his son-in-law, Vernon Ploen; and his step-son, Barry Price.
