MUSCATINE - James L. Paul, 76, of Muscatine passed away on Sunday, February 10, 2019, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, February 14, 2019, at the Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home. Reverend Eddie Cabrera will officiate. Burial will take place at Greenwood Cemetery. A time of food and fellowship will be held at the Seventh-day Adventist Church following the committal service.

James was born on February 3, 1943, in Corpus Christi, Texas, the son of Glenn and Shirley Thompson Paul. He married Darlene Holladay on June 16, 1984, in Muscatine.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
He worked as produce manager at Sun Mart, retiring in 2007. He was a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church and the Moose Lodge No. 388.
He enjoyed fishing, reading, bowling, and when he was younger he enjoyed playing softball.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Darlene Paul of Muscatine; his children, James Glenn Paul and wife, Angela, of Atlanta, Georgia, Julia Paul-Honts of Muscatine, Tamera Carlson and husband, Craig, of Columbus Junction, Julie Ware and husband, Alan, of Jacksonville, Florida, Laura Shellady and husband, Lewis, of New Franklin, Missouri, and Douglas Wilson of Muscatine; 15 grandchildren with two on the way; nine great-grandchildren; and one sister, Sandra Kaska and husband, Dwight, of Muscatine.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Michael Paul; and one son, Jeffrey Holladay.
