MUSCATINE — After more than four years as the Director of Community Development for the City of Muscatine, Dave Gobin has retired. Housing Director Jodi Royal-Goodwin will serve as interim director for the department.
“I have always looked for ways the housing department can interact with other city departments,” Royal-Goodwin said in a news release. “Putting the community development and housing resources together for the rental housing aspect is just a natural.”
Royal-Goodwin has served as housing director for three and a half years and will continue in that role in addition to interim director. She said her plan for community development is to have staff continue to do their jobs while she manages broader action for the department.
“I really like to look at things from the big picture,” Royal-Goodwin said. “It is not this piece or that piece. It is how they all fit together and community development really does that.”
In the news release, she will seek opportunities to connect the city to its customers, utilize staff while working with businesses and residents, and "develop the vision for the future of the community."
According to the release, City Administrator Gregg Mandsager said Gobin resigned from the position the week of Jan. 21.
