China National Peking Opera Company, Troupe One, and the Hubei Chime Bells National Chinese Orchestra will perform at 7 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 14 at Central Middle School auditorium, 901 Cedar Street.
The event is free and open to the public.
The first half will be the performance by the orchestra featuring bronze and stone bells among other traditional instruments creating sounds from ancient China.
Three scenes from the Peking operas, "Divergence," "Palace of Eternal Life" and "Uproar in Heaven," will follow from Troupe One of the China National Beijing Opera Company. The performance will include instrumental and vocal music, mime and acrobatics with performers in traditional dress and makeup.
The event is coordinated by the Muscatine China Initiative Committee with support from the Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China in Chicago.
