August 9, 1938-February 9, 2018

CONESVILLE, Iowa — Kenneth William Weber died peacefully on February 9, 2018. He was born on August 9, 1938, in Washington County, Iowa to Beulah (Forbes) and William Weber. Ken grew up in Conesville and graduated from Conesville High School in 1956. In 1959, he married Dory Spitznogle and they had three daughters. He proudly served in the Marine Corps where he was awarded the Purple Heart and had many careers including milkman, stock car racing official and UPS driver. He also worked as president of the Iowa City branch of UPS for many years and made many friends. He left UPS to run his own business, Weber Enterprises, a maintenance and property management business, where he got to know many people from all walks of life in the Iowa City, Coralville and the North Liberty areas. He was beloved by his employees, many of whom were college students just trying to get by, and when he handed out Christmas bonuses, or even bailed them out of jail, they were forever grateful and often stopped by or called to check on their old boss years later.

Ken was a faithful and avid Hawkeye fan and passed on his love of sports to his daughters. He was also thrilled to get to see the Chicago Cubs win the World Series. He was a voracious reader and did the Jumble everyday. Ken enjoyed helping people and having lunch or coffee with his friends. Despite working long hours, he could be found helping to sandbag every time there was flood in town. He had a great sense of humor and an amazing work ethic and was the kind of man you would want as your neighbor.

He was extremely proud of his daughters and granddaughters and bragged about them whenever he could. He would like to be remember as a man who loved his family, friends and his dog, as well as the simple things in life like a nice supper of chicken and mashed potatoes.

Ken is survived by three daughters, Mary-Ann (Pelzer-Hiller), Mary-Jane and Michael (Rogers), and Mary-Lynne, as well well four granddaughters, Elizabeth Pelzer, Amber Hiller, Mackenzie and Kaylee Rogers and one great grandson, Tristan Kenneth. He is also survived by sisters, Lucille (Peg) Murray, Dee Cerny, Colleen Cox, and brothers, Terry Boyd and Dallas (Butch) Boyd.

A celebration of his life will be scheduled for some time in April.
