Memories of Muscatine

Ernie's Rainbow Ramblers

This Oscar Grossheim photo from Jan. 4, 1927, features a group portrait of Ernie's Rainbow Ramblers. There are seven members of the band with six men and one woman. The men are all dressed in formal evening clothes, and the woman is wearing a dark-colored dress and is standing behind the trombone player. The person next to him holds a trumpet. In the center of the photograph is a man standing behind a drum set. A straw hat hangs from the drums. On the right side of the picture is a banjo player with the two men seated in front of him holding saxophones. On the floor are mutes and clarinets. From the Musser Public Library collection.
