Musc. Art Center-children's room

The Muscatine Art Center will hold an open house to show off its new children's room in the Musser House on June 1.

Greetings from the Board of Directors of the Friends of the Muscatine Art Center.

The Friends of the Muscatine Art Center is a non-profit organization that supports the educational programming at the Muscatine Art Center. Through memberships and fundraisers, we are able to provide school programs, busing for student field trips to the art center, studio classes, and family events and art activities for our community.

On May 22, we held a fundraiser at Boonie’s On The Avenue. The fundraiser was a great success, and, Mike “Boonie” Kleist and his staff deserve a big thank you. Their community support and spirit is a valuable asset to Muscatine.

Also, the Friends of the Muscatine Art Center owe a huge thank you to the patrons of Boonie’s. As they enjoyed the family atmosphere of Boonie’s on Monday evening, their food and beverage orders provided us with additional monetary resources to continue our various programs that help enrich our community.

The Friends Board would like to take this opportunity to invite everyone to join us on Thursday, June 1, from 3:30-6:30 p.m. as we celebrate the reopening of the Musser-McColm House. The Musser-McColm home is a historic, art-filled treasure of our community. And, after nearly one year of renovations, we ask that you plan on joining us on Thursday, June 1, to discover the changes and surprises that have taken place.

Phil Wiese
