MUSCATINE, Iowa — The homicide victim whose body was found in the woods off of Funk's Hill Road has been identified as Isidro Gomez Jr. of Muscatine.
Fingerprint analysis and dental records confirmed the victim is Gomez, investigators said.
Gomez, 27, was reported as a missing person to the Muscatine Police Department on Dec. 17, 2007, by Jessica Ridinger of Muscatine, his girlfriend of eight years.
Ridinger said this morning that Gomez left their Muscatine home early that morning and promised to bring back breakfast.
“He never came home and I knew that something was wrong,” she said.
The partially decomposed body was found Tuesday night by people hunting for mushrooms on the heavily wooded hill.
An autopsy conducted Wednesday concluded the cause of death was homicide, but officials have declined to confirm the cause of his death.
Ridinger said officials will not tell her how Gomez was killed. “I already knew he was killed,” she said. “It was just a matter of time before they found his body.”
