Suspect held on half-million dollar bond

MUSCATINE, Iowa — A Muscatine man charged with first-degree murder in a shooting death Sunday is in Muscatine County Jail on a half-million dollar bond.

Jordan Daufeldt, 23, 2007 Lincoln Blvd., made an initial bail appearance in court Monday morning after his arrest the previous day. He was ordered held on a $500,000 cash-only bond, and the Muscatine County Public Defender's Office has been assigned to handle his representation in court. Daufeldt's next appearance in Muscatine County District Court will be 9 a.m. Tuesday, July 10.

According to a previous report from Muscatine County Attorney Alan Ostergren, Daufeldt was arrested after a shooting incident at his residence Sunday.

Police received a call of a disturbance at the residence at 3:50 p.m. June 29. When officers arrived, they found a man who had been shot multiple times.

The victim, identified as Troy A. Ott, 23, Muscatine, was transported to Trinity Muscatine hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. The investigation into Ott's death is ongoing, according to the county attorney's office.
