MUSCATINE, Iowa — Investigators say they are working “just about every day” to find who murdered Isidro Gomez Jr. and left his body in a rural Muscatine woods.

Gomez, 27, of Muscatine, was found slain near Funk’s Hill on May 6. An autopsy showed he was murdered, but authorities have not said how he died.

Detective Mike Bailey of the Muscatine County Sheriff’s Office said this week that officers from his agency and the Muscatine Police Department are still actively investigating the murder.

“We’re still following up on leads,” Bailey said.

Gomez was reported missing to the Muscatine Police Department on Dec. 17, 2007.

His girlfriend Jessica Ridinger said Gomez left early that morning and said he would return before breakfast. He never came back to the house the couple shared with their young son and infant daughter, she said.
