Need to know: The Muskies enter off a big win Friday night against North Scott, where they hit 53 percent of their 30 3-point attempts. Class 3A No. 4 Mount Pleasant will offer another stiff test, however. The Panthers, who have won 10 straight games since a season-opening loss to Cedar Rapids Xavier, area averaging 70.9 points per game. Sartorius leads the way offensively for Mount Pleasant, but the Panthers have four players averaging at least 8.2 points per game. On the flip side, the Muskies have started to find more balance behind Wieskamp, with Mussehl, Mueller and Jackson Foulk giving the Muskies additional scoring threats.
Muscatine coach Gary Belger: "We were feeling great after Friday’s win. North Scott was a real tough opponent and it was a great win for us because we put a full game together. …We are going to try a lot of different things to try and slow down (Mt. Pleasant’s) offense. Their backcourt is very talented in particular, so we hope to guard the three-point line and make it impossible to shoot. ... We need to focus on each possession. We have done a great job of not turning the ball over, so that will remain a big part of our prep and game plan."
