A day after having to sweat out a 5-4 victory over Clinton, the Muscatine boys tennis team eased past Burlington on Friday.
Trayton Fuegen, Sam Wieskamp, Luke Zobel and Ethan Heth all won their singles matches, and the Muskies won both doubles matches while cruising to an 8-1 victory.
The No. 1 doubles team of Fuegen and Wieskamp and No. 2 team of Zobel and Wester closed the day with victories for Muscatine.
Burlington had to forfeit the No. 6 singles match and No. 3 doubles match and picked up its lone win in the No. 2 singles match.
Muscatine is now 3-2 and will get the day off Saturday after its home invitational at Weed Park Tennis Courts was postponed.
Comets second at Indian Relays: The West Liberty boys track and field team won seven events at Friday's Indian Relays, leading to a second-place finish in the team standings.
Tanner Iske won the 100-meter dash (10.84) and 200 (22.43), Michael Hartman secured gold in the 400 hurdles (58.68) and Spencer Daufeldt was first in the shot put (47-05½).
The Comets also took the top spot in the 800 relay (1:38.80), 3,200 relay (9:21.37) and shuttle hurdle relay (1:00.99), finishing with 111 points, just one point behind first-place Mediapolis.
The meet's host, Wapello, placed fourth in the team standings with 72 points. Logan Belzer finished first in the 800 in 2:08.62, and Keaton Mitchell took gold in the discus with a best throw of 144 feet, 9 inches.
Columbus Community placed sixth with 43 points, and Durant was seventh with 36 points. The Wildcats' Mason Compton took first in the long jump with a 19 feet, 11 inch leap.
Wilton secures bronze: Tyler Hartman shot an 83, Nolan Leaton an 85, Brock Hartley an 85 and Jared Townsend an 86 to lead the Wilton boys golf team to a third-place finish with a 337 team score at Firday's Tiger Classic in Tipton.
Durant finished eighth with a 365 team score, led by an 86 from Lucas Callison.
West Liberty shot a 413 to finish 10th and was led by a pair of 96s from Colton Kaaleberg and Cole Chown.
L-M 196, IMS 227: Louisa-Muscatine's Braden Chick shot a 41 to lead the Falcons and finish as the medalist.
Zach Bieri added a 43, Jackson Soy a 55 and Danny Jacobo a 57 to round out scoring for the Falcons.
L-M 214, IMS 276: Louisa-Muscatine's Mallory Hohenadel was the medalist with a 52, and the Falcons had four golfers shoot 56 or better.
Sarah Martinez carded a 53, Olivia Howell a 53 and Meagan Miller a 56 to lead Louisa-Muscatine.
