Scoring has always come naturally for Trenton Massner.
A year ago at Wapello he averaged 22.5 points per game while leading the Indians to the state tournament. However, his scoring has been up in down in his freshman season for the Southeastern Community College Men's basketball team.
It was up last week, though, as Massner averaged 15.5 points per game and was named the Iowa Community College Player of the Week. The Blackhawks won both contests.
Earlier in the season, Massner had a stretch of seven consecutive games where he failed to top five points. The freshman guard is averaging 8.1 points per game on 45 percent shooting and 35.2 percent from 3-point range.
He caught fire this week, draining 12-19 shots and 7-9 from beyond the arc on his way to player of the week honors. That included a 20-point outing in a win over Indian Hills Community College where Massner shot 8-9 from the field and 4-5 from beyond the arc.
